Terms of service

Last updated 8 September 2026

TrailIssues lets riders and walkers report problems on a trail, and lets volunteer crews organise the work of fixing them. Using the service means accepting these terms.

What the service is, and is not

It is a way for volunteers to keep track of trail work. It is not a safety system and not an emergency service. A trail listed here as clear may not be. A hazard reported here may not have been fixed, and may not have been seen by anyone yet.

In an emergency, call emergency services. Do not report an injury or an immediate danger to life here.

Reporting fairly

Report problems you have actually seen, and describe them honestly. Do not send anything unlawful, or photographs of people who have not agreed to be photographed. Crews may remove reports and may remove accounts that abuse the service.

What you send

Your photos and descriptions remain yours. By sending them you allow the crew to store and display them within the service, and to use them in their own records of trail work, including reports to the landowners and organisations they answer to.

Trail work is done by volunteers

Crews decide what to work on and when, on their own time. Filing a report creates no obligation on anyone to act on it, and no promise about how quickly anything is fixed.

Availability

The service is provided as it is, with no guarantee that it will be available or that reports will arrive. Email and text both depend on networks outside our control.

Text messages

Texting the service opts you in to replies about your report. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop and HELP for help. The texting terms set this out in full.

Changes

These terms may change as the service does. The date at the top says when they last did.
